MuddySnowbunny 2005
Monday January 17th 2005
Up until recently, the east coast hasn't been feeling much of those "winter blues." Mid 70s temps had been gracing our January afternoons, as we witnessed California get dumped with record amounts of snow. As sunny as this may sound, it was actually not exactly the plan as we marked January 7-9 on our calendars as Snowbunny 2005, an annual event where we pile into cars, drive an hour and a half west to Wintergreen Resort, pile into rental homes, pile into hot tubs, pile onto the snowy slopes, and inevitably, pile onto each other (because we're all that good).
Instead, the trails were for the most part brown and rocky, and the air was quite comfortable for early January in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Even so, two "runs" were "ridable", the hot tubs steamed us to wrinkly delights, and as always with this marvelous crew we managed to have a great time in our private little getaway.
Highlights included the hikes, runs and bikes various crew members went on, Tetris tourneys, "dirty-word Scrabble," and an entertaining little game those Swedes like to play with tampons.
I've gone a bit crazy on the pictures, so I'm sorry if this post weighs heavily on your bandwidth. Blame it on my new Panasonic FZ-20 camera, and the endless squeels I blurt out every time I flex its 12x optical zoom.
