Mid-West National Park Tour: Introduction

What follows is a visual account of 7 marvelous days on the road, exploring this great country the way it was meant to be seen: raw, mile by mile, with only the earth beneath our sleeping heads... Alright, so it was mile by mile at 80 miles an hour, and the cooler sort of kept that raw food fresh and chilled, and in between our sleeping heads and the earth were fluffly sleeping bags and pillows...but OTHERWISE...

Our tour of the mid-west was spawned out of an obligation to attend a wedding in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. We figured that if we had to make it all the way up there just for one 6-hour party, we might as well get our miles worth. And did we ever. Starting in Chicago (with a bonus visit to Andy to help ring in his 30th birthday), Marjan and I drove over 3,500 miles, stretching as far North as Winnipeg, far West as Devils Tower, Wyoming, and most of the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin in between. And as with all epics this grand, pictures and words (more of which will come later) are hardly adequate..at some point, you really just had to be there for when...
