Gettin' Inked, Gettin' the Job Done

This gallery is a glance back to August 23, 2004, a day that signifies the end of a long and deeply satisfying journey that began nearly a year before, at the end of the Odyssey Half Iron Triathlon held at Lake Anna State Park, on September 9, 2003. Amongst our congratulations and hugs, Tim and I made an off-the-wall, adrenaline-induced commitment to each other to take on a full Ironman distance triathlon, and to do it in 2004. The reward, so we called it, would be tattoos signifying our pursuit.
A year later, after months of 6am runs, pounds of energy gels, gallons of Gatorade and Endurox, miles of saddle sore rides, and countless other shared moments of both pain and glory, we've done what we came here to do: endure one more glorifying moment of pain, and wear it on our skin forever. . .
