NightLife at Smith Mountain Lake 2004

Saturday May 08th 2004

So after a morning of racing our hearts out at the Smith Mountain Lake Sprint Tri, and all afternoon vegging and eating our hard work away, we hit "the town" (via party barge!) to get down with the "yokals" at the only bar on the lake. I had been hearing about this place for a year, and hadn't been that excited to drink & dance in a long time. And I'm glad I saved up my enthusiasm. . .

The bar is just on-shore from a large dock, and sits on the lake side of a "court yard" of sorts. Flanked by a three-story building full of shops, restaurants, and who knows what else, it was really no more than a covered stage and a nearby 3-sided covered bar, with a large area of outside tables and a dance floor strung off by christmas lights (wasn't it May?). We came to do 3 simple things; dance a lot, drink a little, and amuse ourselves with the "view"--mullets, mullets, mullets!

Tish got the gold star for bringing out the "partyboy" in her and the rest of us. I never like going out on the town without her, she just pumps so much energy and love into every minute! Or was that whiskey. . .
