Ironman Florida 2005, and Ironman UK 2006

Wednesday November 09th 2005

Alright, first of all a HUGE round of applause needs to go out to all of those Richmonders that competed in this past weekend's Ironman Florida event. I know that I'm echoing Mar's praise for their achievements, but their efforts and successes can't be understated.

Viewing the event from London was a bit removed of course. And since we were out all day celebrating Mar's 30th birthday, we had couldn't sit in suspense in front of the computer and watch their chip times come in. Instead we pulled up the results long after the race ended, and what I saw gave me shivers:

Richmond results for Ironman Florida 2005

Those times are AMAZING. Everyone blew minutes to hours off of their personal bests, and what's even more fun is to see the proximity of everyone's times. It shows that they've been training well together. It made me a very very proud friend...

That said, it's time to announce a bit of news of my own. It gives me even more shivers to say that I've signed up for Ironman UK 2006, and with a majority of the Richmond crew singing on as well, it's time to take this invinsible team energy overseas. Yeah!!!!! YEAH!!!! It will be hard to train so far away, but with Mar's support and maybe some over-email training and motivation, I'll be ready. I've had a year off from all of the training, so I've got a bit of ramping up to do, but I'm more excited than afraid.

Again, immense congratulations to those Ironman Florida rockstars, and I'll see you at IMUK06!!
